Risk Assessment 4-6

Location: Peterborough Athletics Arena (Inside & Out)
Risks: Slipping, tripping, collisions

Risk level:
  • Slipping: Medium - minor-moderate injury of body parts
  • Tripping: Low - minor-moderate injury of body parts
  • Collisions: High  - An accelerating force making contact with a stationary force, forces being the athletes, not to mention that most athletes wear spikes. deep cuts and dents, collisions of high impact

Detail:
  • Slipping and more of a risk that happens due to factors such as the track being icy or wet. As this is very much an out-of-control factor, the only prepartions which can be made is with equipment. This means athletics spikes as footwear, to ensure a sturdy grip to completely avoid this risk.
  • Collisions, this is a result of carelessness and lack of consideration for the other athletes on the track. To avoid this, simply claim a lane that is being unused or wait until 8:00, where normally this is when most people have left. A most convinient time to start filming.

Location: Graveyard
Risks: Public

Risk level: Low
Detail: No physical harm really, but for the sake of wanting to avoid being disrespectful to mourners. We do want to make an emotional moment spoiled by the filming of our production. So we will choose to do our filming at a time where the place is near enough empty, strongly seperating ourselves from anybody.

Location: Hill Farm
Risks: Injury (muscles), terrain
Risk Level: Medium (both)

Detail: The hill farm is a well-kept, safety-ensured venue most of the time.  However sometimes during maintenence, the trimming of nettle bushes may result in a lot of sharp thorns on the floor. To avoid a thorn through the foot, or staggering through a big, frozen and muddy puddle, caution needs to be taken.
Also, the hill farm is only available during 9.00-11.30am. Thankfully that is more than useful for me as this is the time for my training. But, it is normally (nearly all of the time) very, very cold and windy. This makes it very easy to get injured as muscles become more fragile the more they are exposed to cold, and with the sudden and powerful movement that needs to be done for the shot, this makes it dangerous as the liklihood of pulling or tearing muscles is increased signifciantly under these sort of circumstances. To resolve, constant and thorough warming up (drills, stretching, jogging) needs to be kept frequent during the whole process.
